All students entering Bloomfield College are required to take a placement
test. The purpose of the placement test is to ensure that students enroll
in the appropriate math and English courses; therefore, students
are asked to take these tests seriously. You would like to be
enrolled in a course that represents your abilities.
There are two sections
to the test - a math section and an English section.
The math
section will test you on basic concepts such as whole numbers, fractions,
decimals, percents and ratio/proportions through computation questions and
word problems. It will also test you on basic algebra skills. NO
CALCULATORS will be allowed.
The English section consists of two
parts. The first part tests reading comprehension. You will answer questions
based on certain passages you will read. The second section tests your writing
skills. You will be given the opportunity to write a brief essay on one
of three topics.
The test will be administered on a computer and UNTIMED. However,
allow yourself at least
2 ½ hours to complete the test. If you prefer not to take the
test on the computer, please indicate this when you call to make an appointment.
TESTING DATES ARE OFFERED ON AN ON-GOING BASIS DURING THE WEEKDAY EVENINGS.
SOME SATURDAY TESTING DATES WILL BE AVAILABLE.
You must schedule an appointment.
Please call the ADMISSIONS OFFICE at (973) 748-9000 ext 230.
