Honors Societies welcomes 69 new membersApril 2, 2008 - On Sunday, March 30, several honor societies held ceremonies to induct qualified students as members based on their proficiency in their chosen majors. The Bloomfield College chapters of Delta Mu Delta, Kappa Delta Pi, Psi Chi, and Alpha Chi, led by student and faculty members welcomed a total of 69 students who have proved to be worthy of membership through their scholarship and dedication to their chosen fields. The Zeta Sigma chapter of Delta Mu Delta has been on the Bloomfield College campus since 1994. It is the honor society for business administration majors and its motto is Through Knowledge, Power, defined as the power to manage creatively for social and economic good. Julie Chambers is the faculty advisor and Brunilda Cortes is the president of the campus chapter. The Alpha Beta Eta chapter of Kappa Delta Pi is the honor society for education majors. Its goals are to recognize scholarship and excellence in education and promote the development of educational ideas and practices. The Bloomfield College chapter was installed in 2003. The faculty advisor is Dr. Nora Krieger and the chapter president is Danielle DiGori. Psi Chi is the national honor society for students of psychology and its purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship and advance the science of psychology. Psi Chi has had a chapter on the Bloomfield College campus since 1984 and is advised by faculty member Dr. Terry Glover. Alpha Chi is a general honor society that admits students from all academic disciplines. Membership is limited to the top 10 percent of an institution's juniors, seniors, and graduate students. The chapter’s faculty advisor is Dr. Demetris Nicolaides. The following students were inducted into the honor societies:
