“Women are always beautiful” – the Women of Bloomfield College

April 7, 2008 - The celebration of Women’s History Month culminated in a luncheon for the women of Bloomfield College (men were invited too), on March 25, 2008 in the Deacon’s Den. The room became elegant with flowers, balloons, and tablecloths as many administrators, staff, and students gathered to honor several of their own for their contributions to the college as well as to the community. A call for nominations was sent out a few weeks prior and more than 30 names were received – all nominated by their peers.

Maria Dyer, director of the Center for Student Leadership and Engagement (CSLE) introduced the guest speaker, the college’s own Rose Mitchell, who has just published her first book Journeys of Love, Voices from the Heart.

Mitchell gave a rousing talk about the power of women in everyday lives as she described women as being phenomenal, a phrase she asked the audience to repeat regularly.

Jocelyn Moses, coordinator for CSLE, handed out the awesome women awards to Denise Smith, administrative assistant to the vice president of academic affairs and dean of faculty Marion Terenzio Ph.D., Rochelle Gabriel, director of residential education and housing, and Debra Adler, director of women’s studies. The student award recipient was Rachael Destafney. Each received a certificate thanking them for their contribution and service to the Bloomfield College community.
