Bloomfield College adds a new global partnership

February 29, 2008 - Bloomfield College has added a new partnership to its current list of international collaborations. On February 13, 2008, three professors from Pai Chai University in Daejeon Korea: Dr. Mun Soo Lee, Dr. Byung Tae Kim, and Dr. Choon Shik Zang visited Bloomfield College and signed an agreement with the College’s president, Richard A. Levao. The terms of the agreement foster increased relations with the two institutions with student and faculty exchanges, scholarships, and the establishment of a Korean Language Institute on the Bloomfield College campus. Pai Chai University also has partnership agreements with Drew University, Duke University, and Emory College.

In the summer of 2008, Pai Chai University will be sending one of its students to Bloomfield College for English as a Second Language courses. Pai Chai University has offered two full scholarships for two full-time Bloomfield College students to spend a semester in Korea learning the language and participating in Korean culture.

Pai Chai University is also looking at Bloomfield College as a home for a Korean Language Institute. Currently there are 30 such institutes around the world and Bloomfield College would house the only institute on the eastern seaboard. The Korean Language Institute would be staffed by faculty members from Pai Chai University.

Pai Chai University adds another element of international opportunities for Bloomfield College students and the local community. The Creative Arts & Technology division (CAT) has a collaborative agreement with Jeonju University, also in South Korea. Through the East Meets West initiative, students from both Bloomfield College and Jeonju University enjoy two-week exchanges to learn about the creative technologies and cultures in each other's country. As a member of the College Consortium for International Studies, Bloomfield College encourages qualified students to spend a semester in one of 31 countries on five continents. Additionally, Bloomfield College welcomes qualified students from any corner of the world to live and study at the campus.
