Super Monday @ Bloomfield College
As part of an ongoing project called Democracy Matters @ Bloomfield College, events are scheduled to educate the Bloomfield College community about the presidential candidates and the voting process. On Thursday, January 31, at 7:00 p.m., the student government is hosting a forum in which members of the college community will review the candidates’ platforms. The forum will be open for discussion. This is a wonderful opportunity to get more information about the presidential candidates. On Monday, February 4, students, staff, and faculty can participate in a mock ballot identical to the official ballot on Tuesday. Online voting is available at https://eballot3.votenet.com/bloomfield/login.cfm User name is first and last name of the voter (no spaces) and the password is the Bloomfield College ID number after a 0 (zero). Instructions for voting will be displayed on line. Contact Jocelyn Moses at ext. 300 if there are any problems with the online process. For paper ballots the campus polling places for this mock election are in the student center from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and at the Science Building (lower level by the vending machines) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. This is not an official polling place and the votes will not be reported to the board of elections, but it is a good opportunity to voice opinions and learn the voting process. Students, staff, and faculty are not required to be registered voters to participate in this activity; however, in order to cast a ballot, Bloomfield College ID must be shown. Any member of the Bloomfield College community who are not registered to vote can pick up a voter registration form and an information sheet during these hours. While is it too late to register for the official Super Tuesday primary, it is a good time to register for the November 2008 presidential election. Contact Paula Craig at 973-748-9000 x 276 for more information. Mock election results will be announced to the college community on Wednesday, February 6, 2008. Check the website after noon that day. |
