DREAMCATCHER GALA BENEFIT TO FEATURE JASON ALEXANDER
August 23, 1999, Bloomfield, NJ -- Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre will hold a Gala Benefit Celebration on Saturday, October 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the companys new home, the Robert V. Van Fossan Theatre at Bloomfield College. The event will feature Jason Alexander from TVs "Seinfeld," and will introduce the audience to Dreamcatchers new space.
Jason Alexander, Dreamcatchers special guest for the evening, is a Livingston, NJ native and is best known as George Costanza from NBCs "Seinfeld." In his nine seasons on the hit TV show, he earned six Emmy and four Golden Globe nominations, an American Television Award and two American Comedy Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series. Alexander has appeared in numerous Broadway shows including Neil Simons "Broadway Bound," "The Rink" with Liza Minnelli and Chita Rivera, and "Jerome Robbins Broadway" for which he won a Tony in 1989. Now directing a feature film in Los Angeles, Alexander will attend the Gala to receive Dreamcatchers first annual award celebrating artists from the Garden State. Alexander will also speak about his career and participate in a question and answer session with the audience.
The celebration will begin with a champagne greeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Theatres lobby, and will continue with a cabaret performance at 8 p.m. hosted by Thom Christopher, who plays Carlo on ABCs "One Life to Live." The show will feature Dreamcatchers resident acting company which will present favorite musical and comedic pieces from the past and a preview of the coming season.
Following the cabaret, Jason Alexander will receive his award and speak with the audience. Next, "A Taste of Bloomfield" will move the party to the Colleges Westminster Art Gallery with food and beverages from local eateries. Restaurants participating in the celebration include I Fratelli Ristorante, New Seven Hills Restaurant, and The Feedbag Family Saloon, with flowers designed by Roxy Florist. Tickets to the event are $75.
Bloomfield Colleges Robert V. Van Fossan Theatre is located on the corner of Franklin and Fremont Streets in Bloomfield and is easily accessible from the Garden State Parkway, Exit 149 from the North or Exit 148 from the South. The campus is also easily accessible by bus from both Newark and New York City.
