JACK SULLIVAN NAMED MEN’S BASKETBALL COACH
May 16, 2000, Bloomfield, NJ -- Jack Sullivan of Garwood has been named head coach of the Bloomfield College men’s basketball team.
Sullivan comes to Bloomfield from Fairleigh Dickinson University - Madison, where he served as assistant basketball coach for the past 10 years. Under Sullivan’s guidance, FDU - Madison earned a spot in the NCAA tournament in 1997-98, as well as five ECAC tournament appearances. Sullivan also served as head baseball coach for FDU - Madison for the past three years. He was named 1999 Coach of the Year for the Middle Atlantic Conference.
For the past seven years, Sullivan also served as intramural director for FDU - Madison.
He received a B.S. in Business Marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University - Madison, where he is currently pursuing a Masters in the Art of Teaching.
As a basketball player, Sullivan captained FDU - Madison to its first NCAA tournament appearance with an 18-9 record. In 1990, he was selected to the New Jersey Senior All-Star game and was a Desilets Leadership Award winner. Sullivan was inducted into the Rutherford Hall of Fame in 1998.
Bloomfield College was elected to provisional membership in NCAA Division II in 1998. The College offers intercollegiate athletic teams in men’s and women’s soccer and basketball, women’s softball and volleyball, and men’s baseball and cross country as part of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, NAIA. Students may also participate in intramural sports programs.
