DREAMCATCHER WINS TWO NJ THEATRE AWARDS, NOMINATED FOR FOUR

June 6, 2000, Bloomfield, NJ -- It’s been quite a year for Bloomfield’s Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre.

In its inaugural season as Bloomfield College’s professional theatre-in-residence, Dreamcatcher was nominated for four “Best of New Jersey Theatre Awards.” Actress Rita Rehn won two awards including Best Actress in a Comedy (“As Bees in Honey Drown”) and Best Featured Actress in a Musical (“And the World Goes ‘Round”).

Dreamcatcher also received nominations for Best Comedy New to New Jersey (“As Bees in Honey Drown” by Douglas Carter Beane), and Best Musical Revival (“And the World Goes ‘Round”).

Dreamcatcher’s 1999-2000 season also included a production of “Love, Hate, Friendship, Marriage,” a collection of short comedies by area playwrights, and its annual “Meet the Artist” series.

Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, an affiliate member of the New Jersey Theatre Group, became Bloomfield College’s theatre-in-residence last summer. The company celebrated its new relationship with the College with a gala celebration featuring actor Jason Alexander of “Seinfeld” fame.

Dreamcatcher’s mission is to illuminate contemporary topics in a way that is both entertaining and intellectually stimulating. Over its five-year history, Dreamcatcher has produced both plays and musicals that are either fresh from Off-Broadway or are little-known gems from recent years. All shows are performed in Bloomfield College’s Robert V. Van Fossan Theatre, which is located on the campus at the corner of Franklin and Fremont Streets in Bloomfield.
