WORKS WANTED FOR PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW

October 13, 2000 -- The American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) New Jersey Chapter will soon mount their sixth annual show at Bloomfield College, and the society is soliciting entries from both amateurs and professionals.

Bloomfield College’s academic theme for 2000 is “Books & Bytes: The Quest for Knowledge,” and the society’s show calls for works interpreting that expression.

Receiving days for these works are Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the College’s Westminster Art Gallery, and the deadline has been extended to Thursday, October 19.

There is an entry fee of $15 per work. Entries must be framed in wood or metal and should be ready to be hung. The works must be no bigger than 16-by-20 inches (including frame) and must have been created within the last two years.

The prizes will be awarded at the show, which is open to photographers who live or work in New Jersey - $350 for best in show, $250 second place, and $150 third place.

Well-known photographer Jay Maisel will speak at the opening reception, scheduled for Tuesday, October 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. Maisel will show slides of his work and discuss his images in the College’s Robert V. Van Fossan Theatre. A reception will be held in the gallery following Maisel’s talk.
