FORMER OLYMPICS MEDICAL ADVISOR TO SPEAK TO BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE PRE-CHIROPRACTIC GRADS

April 18, 2001, Bloomfield, NJ -- Dr. Philip T. Santiago, a former member of the medical staff for the U.S. Olympic Team, will deliver the keynote address as Bloomfield College honors the class of 2001 and celebrates the 25th anniversary of its pre-chiropractic program on Thursday, May 17 in the College Center on campus.

Dr. Santiago was selected as a member of the medical team for the United States Olympic Team for the XXV Olympiad in Barcelona, Spain and was appointed to the Olympic Medical Advisory Committee. He serves in numerous capacities of higher education and has been named “Sports Chiropractor of the Year” by the American Chiropractic Association and “Chiropractor of the Year” by the New Jersey Chiropractic Society.

A 1975 graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University - Madison, Dr. Santiago has lectured throughout the United States and Europe to numerous medical groups on the topics of sports medicine and anti-aging medicine. An associate professor, he is Chairman of the Department of Sports Medicine at New York Chiropractic College.

Most recently, he has written several articles on anti-aging medicine and is President of the American Board of Anti-Aging Health Providers.

He was named “FDU Athlete of the Year” and played five seasons of professional soccer after being drafted by Philadelphia after college. He helped FDU win a national championship in 1978 and also kicked FDU football’s first extra point.

Dr. Santiago is one of five chiropractors in his family. He maintains a clinical practice in Parsippany, NJ.

Since its inception in 1975, Bloomfield College’s Pre-Chiropractic Program has served more than 450 students from New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and many other states. The program of study offers courses designed to prepare students for entry into programs leading to the doctor of chiropractic degree. Bloomfield College’s post-chiropractic program offers holders of the D.C. degree an opportunity to complete the requirements for the B.S. degree.

Bloomfield College is the only institution in New Jersey that has articulation agreements with 12 of the 16 chiropractic colleges accredited by the Council of Chiropractic Education.
