April 19, 2001, Bloomfield, NJ - More than 20 students from Sacred Heart School in Bloomfield visited Bloomfield College recently to learn more about how technology is preparing students for careers in the new century.
The students were hosted by Charmaine Hooke, Director of Systems Administration at Bloomfield College, and Laszlo Marshall, Systems Administrator, who led them on a tour of the College’s facilities. The students visited the Science Building, where the College houses its Advanced Technology Institute and offers programs in Microsoft, Cisco, Sun, Oracle and Webmaster certification. The College’s Webmaster, Phil Lentz, spoke with the students about designing and maintaining a web site. The students also visited the College’s new library, where they toured its state-of-the-art computer center and met with Barbara Isacson, the Director of the Media Center, to discuss audio and video technology.
In Westminster Hall, the students met with Nancy Bacci, an instructor in the Creative Arts & Technology (CAT) Division, who introduced them to exciting developments in computer graphics, interactive multimedia, music technology and more.
The idea for the “technology tour” arose after Charmaine Hooke and Laszlo Marshall visited Sacred Heart School in February to speak about technology at a career day.
