May 10, 2001 - Members of the Bloomfield College men’s basketball team and the Junior Class Officers recently teamed up to clear an area for a new student quadrangle in back of the College Center. With the help of basketball coaches Jack Sullivan and Neil Biscaldi, the students raked the area and cleared away brush and debris. The Physical Plant Office will handle the removal of fencing and rocks from the area and will oversee the new look of this “second quad.”
“This project was organized by the students, and it’s been a good opportunity for them to come together and do something positive. It shows a lot of respect for the campus,” said coach Sullivan. “We have a great open space back here and it makes sense that our students use this area as another quad.”
Director of Buildings & Grounds Arthur Pierfy says the college is working on a plan that will make the area an attractive place for students to gather, study, and relax with friends. In addition to new landscaping, Pierfy says preliminary plans for the area have included a picnic area, benches, a fountain or art work, and space to play volleyball.
Student participants in the project included Jason Brooks, Rayshawn Brown, Alwin Dickson, Herbie Hall, Ticia Holden, Michael Pineiro, Jharid Smith, and Lashaunna Ward.
