ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE AT BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE TO HOST CISCO, SUN OPEN HOUSES
Bloomfield, NJ -- To introduce prospective students to its Cisco and Sun Microsystems certification programs, the Advanced Technology Institute at Bloomfield College will host a Cisco open house and registration session on Thursday, June 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Science Building, Room 16, on Liberty Street in Bloomfield. A Sun Microsystems open house will be held on Thursday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the Science Building, Room 16.
The Cisco program, authorized by computer networking leader Cisco Systems, is designed to help computer-literate individuals earn certifications and prepare for careers in networking.
The program allows students to be certified at various technical proficiency levels including Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), average salary $59,770; Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), average salary $85,000 with 2 to 3 years’ experience; and Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), average salary $150,000.
CCNAs focus on relatively simple networks, while CCNPs have the expertise to install, configure, operate and troubleshoot more complex Cisco-based networks. CCIEs represent the highest attainable certification level under Cisco Certifications and ideally possess at least two years of on-the-job experience in addition to the knowledge associated with the CCNP level.
Students may choose day, evening or weekend sections. As a Cisco Authorized Networking Academy, all classes are taught by Cisco-certified instructors in labs equipped with the latest product technologies.
To enter the Cisco Career Certifications program at the Advanced Technology Institute, students should possess an understanding of computer software and hardware and a desire to learn network concepts and skills. For those without computer or networking experience, Advanced Technology Institute offers a slower paced program.
Recently, the Advanced Technology Institute at Bloomfield College joined Sun Microsystems Authorized Sun Education Center, Academic Initiative, to offer a unique program designed to help students learn the latest dot-com skills. Sun’s training arm, Sun Educational Services, is providing the Advanced Technology Institute at Bloomfield College with curriculum materials, faculty training, full administrative support and free Web-based student resources.
Under this program, students will be able to take courses on the Java technologies that power the Internet and the Solaris Operating Environment. Students enrolled in these courses have free access through a Web browser to online courses on the Sun Web Learning Center. Students who complete the courses offered through the initiative will qualify to sit for examinations in the Sun Certified Programmer for the Java Platform path and for the Sun Certified System Administrator for Solaris path.
