Morir Por Amor, a 45-minute video in Spanish with English subtitles, explores the social and cultural factors that are contributing to an increase in AIDS cases among Latinas. The video features documentary footage filmed in Argentina, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and the United States. By emphasizing prevention and the importance of making informed choices, Morir Por Amor presents women not as victims but as active agents in the transformation of their lives.
The screening and discussion is sponsored by the Freshman Core Program, the Humanities Division of Bloomfield College, and the Media Center/Bloomfield College Library. After the event, the Association of Latin American Students and the Day Student Government will sponsor a reception in the Art Room on the main floor of the Bloomfield College Library. The library is located on the corner of Liberty Street and Oakland Avenue in Bloomfield.
