March 26, 2002, Bloomfield, NJ - Bloomfield College invites the public to view Journeys of the CAT Faculty, an exhibition of works by members of the College’s Creative Arts and Technology Division running through April 18, 2002 in the Westminster Art Gallery located in the Westminster Arts Center, 63 Fremont Street, Bloomfield. Included in the exhibit are fine arts, sculpture, collage, photography and musical composition.
Gallery Director/faculty member David Rosenak’s collages reflect his “personal sense of the seemingly unconnected traditions and histories” of his Jewish, Cherokee and African heritage. Professor Lynne Oddo says the “shiny, reflective surfaces” of her paintings are meant “to provoke introspective thinking about the events of September 11,” while professor Lisa Weinberg Rabinowitz’ charcoal drawings are a tribute to a young woman friend “who died too young.”
With original compositions by Steve Colson, Oliver Lake and Chris White playing in the background, gallery visitors will view works by twelve faculty members who, as instructor Bev O’Mara says, are “always on a journey pursuing and visually exploring intellectual and creative ideas…it is our separate experiences that illuminate each of us as distinct, special and vital to each other.”
The exhibit also includes works by Nancy Bacci, Penelope Gaitanis, Vincent Potuto, Elizabeth Seaton, Beth Shipley, Peter Syak, Ella Veres, and Larry Walker.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by appointment. For more information call 973-748-9000, x 343 or x279.
