ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE AT BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE CONTINUES TO GROW
April 17, 2002, Bloomfield, NJ -- The Advanced Technology Institute at Bloomfield College continues to experience growth in its information technology vendor-authorized training programs.
“With economic conditions uncertain, we are finding more students who have not achieved certification since 1998 or so, coming back for IT certification training. By enrolling for retraining, students indicate commitment to their careers and display the professionalism needed to be successful in a tight labor market”, said Dr. Peter Jeong, Vice President for Advanced Technology Institute.
The Advanced Technology Institute at Bloomfield College offers training programs for Cisco CCNA, CCNP and CCIE, Microsoft MCSE 2000, CheckPoint Network Security CCSA and CCSE, CIW - Certified Internet Webmaster, Sun Java and Solaris and Oracle 9i DBA.
A newly created Summer Computer Camp program has been designed to attract high school students looking to get a jump-start on their careers. No matter what field students choose, it is critical that they learn technology that will assist them in their everyday lives. The Summer Computer Camp teaches students how to build a web site as well as maintain and manage PCs and desktop environments.
According to Dr. Peter K. Jeong, certifications should never be confused with traditional education. Students in the Advanced Technology Institute are educated in information technology that not only prepares them to pass their exams, but to also become more productive employees. Bloomfield College’s innovative Bachelor of Science in Internet Technology allows students to receive a traditional liberal arts education, while pursuing vendor certifications.
While certifications often enhance an individual’s prospects for advancement, employers also find them extremely desirable.
“Well-educated, certified professionals tend to reduce costs, eliminate support expenses and enhance their IT departments to the point where return on investment in training is quickly realized,” said Dr. Jeong.
IT certifications are by no means a career cure-all or substitute for hands-on experience, but at the Advanced Technology Institute, students who are motivated can achieve their career goals with hard work and determination. Many potential students are unsure as to which technical program best suits their needs and interests. On a monthly basis, ATI hosts free IT classes, which assist students in making a good program match. The classes are taught in real classroom settings with instructors who are industry professionals and certified in their technical area of specialty.
“As hundreds of IT jobs go unfilled, ATI is exceeding the demands of its students, through innovative and leading edge instructional delivery,” said Dr. Jeong.
