FOUR BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE FRESHMEN AWARDED NETS & DEVILS SCHOLARSHIP
November 13, 2002, Bloomfield NJ - Bloomfield College freshmen Kenneth Edwards of Trenton, Christopher Aguero of Elizabeth, Heather Letts of South Amboy, and Mimoza Dabishevci of Paterson have been selected as recipients of a $4,000 scholarship paid over four years from the New Jersey Nets and Devils Foundation. Bloomfield College will match the scholarships and will provide a mentor to the students as part of the program.
The presentations will be made at Nets’ and Devils’ home games in the upcoming months. Scholarship recipients are selected based on several factors including community service, grade point average, and financial need.

For three years, Kenneth Edwards has volunteered at Paul Robeson Elementary Summer Program as a teacher’s assistant and baby sitter. He also volunteered at the Young Scholars Institute and was a member of his church’s youth and young adult outreach ministries. Additionally, Edwards served as an administrative assistant at Trenton Central High School doing daily clerical work. “I have a feeling of joy within me when helping others,” said Edwards.
Christopher Aguero volunteered at his local YMCA assisting children with homework and various other after-school activities. He was also involved with Peer Leadership at his high school where he addressed everyday issues with freshmen. Aguero also volunteered as a little league coach for the North Elizabeth Baseball. “ I learned how to deal with different attitudes and most importantly, I learned that I could be an important role model for young upcoming baseball players,” said Aguero.

Heather Letts has volunteered at Hoops for Hearts for the past four years where she has helped to raise money and participated in basketball shooting contests. She has also done a variety of work with children including: helping to collect toys for children during the holidays through Toys For Tots. Through the School-To-Work program, she volunteered as a Teacher’s Assistant for the 6th grade. “I loved the fact that I was able to establish so many relationships with so many different children at once,” said Letts.
Mimoza Dabishevci has volunteered for the Albanian Campaign where she tutored children in English. She has also volunteered for the Helping Campaign where she delivered food to poor and needy families. “I am always ready to help any organization deliver food to poor people,” said Dabishevci.
