BLOOMFIELD STUDENTS PRESENT
A MOVIE AND PLAY IN “MOLAY”

December 3, 2002, Bloomfield, NJ -- Audiences will get much more than a traditional theatrical experience when Bloomfield College students take the stage to present “Molay” on December 13 and 14.

As its title implies, “Molay” is a combination movie and play. This unique mode of storytelling offers more flexibility than a standard play, according to senior Kellei Cosby who wrote and directed the piece.

“A play can be very restrictive in terms of props and scenes, and we felt that we could add more flexibility with film. Film helps especially with the transition scenes, going from an outside scene to an inside scene, for example,” said Cosby. “Since Molay incorporates both cinematic acting and theatrical acting, it’s an exciting experience for the performers as well the audience.”

A true multi-media experience, Molay will also incorporate dance, computer graphics and 3-D animation. “The dancing and the computer graphics came later in the process, to add more life to the story,” explained Cosby.

Molay is a comedy/drama that tells the story of Julio Nieves, an aspiring actor who discovers that true happiness means more than fame. The cast, comprised entirely of Bloomfield College students, includes Raul Soto, Yamileth Palacios, Frances Leon, Carlos Rios, Kellei Cosby, and Raymond Vazquez. The film scenes were shot by Kellei Cosby, Raul Soto, Raymond Vazquez and Carlos Rios. The dancing is choreographed by Vanessa Vizzio.

The computer graphics and design for “Molay” were created by King-Ngai Hui, Manny Perez and Jose Rodriguez with photography by Kellei Cosby. Raymond Vazquez also contributed to the script.

“Molay” will be presented on Friday, December 13 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, December 14 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Robert V. Van Fossan Theatre in Bloomfield College’s Westminster Arts Center, corner of Franklin and Fremont Streets in Bloomfield. Tickets are $5.
