STUDENT ART ON DISPLAY IN LIBRARY

December 19, 2002, Bloomfield, NJ – Visitors to the Bloomfield College library will discover the possibilities of color, line, space, texture, time and motion in “Design Basics,” an exciting student art exhibit in the lower level of the library. The works are part of a project from the Introduction To Design class taught by Jenifer Kobylarz and Beth Shipley.

“Working through a series of problems that isolate each element – line, shape, value, texture, and space – the students engage the dynamics of composition,” said instructor Beth Shipley.

The show also examines the effects of chaos and control, repetition and variation, balance, emphasis, scale, rhythm and simplicity.

Student participants in the project include: Bridget Awauh, Roxanne Joseph – Beckles, Christopher Blanc, Shayla Blount, Daniel Brown, Cierra Burns, Steven Byars, Aaron Carr, Benny Domena, Lama Domena, Robert Floyd, Sarah Frome, Colette Hinds, Miesha Hunter, Spring Jenkins, Aneesa Khadim, Daniela Lancellotta, Claudette Martone, Daniel Morales, Sakinah Naheem, Anthony Randon, Efrain Rexach, Dorly St. Jean and Jason Snowten.

Artist Patrick Fox, who has previously displayed his work in the Bloomfield College Library, designed the title banners for the show.

The exhibit will be on view in the Bloomfield College library, corner of Liberty Street and Oakland Avenue, through the middle of the spring 2003 semester.
