Nets/Devils Foundation Salutes Bloomfield College Scholars

Bloomfield College’s 12 New Jersey Nets & Devils Scholarship recipients gathered for a special reception in the Westminster Art Gallery on November 18.

The event provided the students with an opportunity to get acquainted, meet with New Jersey Nets/Devils Foundation Program Manager Dan McNeal, and say ‘thank you’ for the Foundation’s ongoing support.

Established in 1998, the Nets/Devils Scholarship is awarded to four incoming freshmen each year who have a commitment to community leadership and a desire to make a difference. Students are selected based on financial need, history of community service or volunteerism, and academic standing.

The Foundation provides recipients with a $4,000 scholarship payable over four years. The scholarship is matched dollar for dollar by Bloomfield College, making the total award worth $8,000.

McNeal explained that the scholarship is particularly exciting because award presentations are made during a Nets or Devils home game. In addition, scholarship recipients are encouraged to engage in service activities and attend community service events with players from the New Jersey Nets and Devils.
