Nets/Devils Foundation Salutes Bloomfield College Scholars

Bloomfield College’s 12 New Jersey Nets & Devils Scholarship recipients
gathered for a special reception in the Westminster Art Gallery on November
18.
The event provided the students with an opportunity to get acquainted, meet with New Jersey Nets/Devils Foundation Program Manager Dan McNeal, and say ‘thank you’ for the Foundation’s ongoing support.
Established in
1998, the Nets/Devils Scholarship is awarded to four incoming freshmen each
year who have a commitment to community leadership and a desire to make a
difference. Students are selected based on financial need, history of
community service or volunteerism, and academic standing.
The Foundation provides recipients with a $4,000 scholarship payable over
four years. The scholarship is matched dollar for dollar by Bloomfield
College, making the total award worth $8,000.

McNeal explained that the scholarship is particularly exciting because award
presentations are made during a Nets or Devils home game. In addition,
scholarship recipients are encouraged to engage in service activities and
attend community service events with players from the New Jersey Nets and
Devils.

Bloomfield College’s Nets/Devils Scholars are:
Seniors: Vito Marichal, Charles Tempio, Jacklyn Perrington.
Juniors: Eric Franchino, Fedline Joseph, Ellaina Ruiz.
Sophomores: Heather Letts, Kenneth Edwards.
Freshmen: Carol Clarke, Benjamin Warehime, Shareen Medina, Jason
Brigham.
