MODANEZE NAMED ASSISTANT WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL COACH AT BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
July 31, 2003, Bloomfield, NJ – Eduarda Modaneze has been named assistant women’s volleyball coach at Bloomfield College.
Modaneze, who is from Brazil, was a standout volleyball player at the college. During her senior year, 2002-2003, she was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year. She was also an all-conference player and was named to the Bryant College Halloween Classic All-Tournament Team and the New Haven All-Tournament team.
Last season, she became the only player in the country with two quadruple doubles. She recorded 18 kills, 11 assists, 12 digs and 10 blocks in a loss to Wilmington College, and 44 kills, 15 assists, 37 digs and 10 blocks in a win over University of the Sciences to earn CACC Player of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 16.
The Bloomfield College Women’s Volleyball Team finished with a record of 18-14 in Fall 2002, winning its third consecutive CACC championship.
GREEN AND SKINNER NAMED ASSISTANT WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACHES AT BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
July 31, 2003, Bloomfield, NJ – Nzinga Green and Lance Skinner, both of Newark, have been named assistant women’s basketball coaches at Bloomfield College.
Green graduated with honors from Bloomfield College and was a standout basketball player. As a center and captain of the women's basketball team, Green was one of Bloomfield College's most talented athletes. She was named All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference three years in a row, and was selected to the All-Met Sportswriters Team for 2001-2002. Green scored her 1,000th point and grabbed her 1,000th rebound during her senior season. She ranks in the Top 5 Among Bloomfield's all-time leading scorers and rebounders.
“I’m looking for Nzinga to bring that personal relationship with the players to our staff,” said women’s basketball head coach Jerry Wimberly. “She will be the liaison between the players and myself. She will be a sort of big sister to them and will teach the game to the team.”
Prior to his new appointment, Skinner was assistant women’s basketball coach for three years at Passaic County Community College. At the time, Wimberly was head women’s basketball coach at PCCC.
“Lance will bring his hard work, enthusiasm and knowledge of teaching to our team,” Wimberly said.
FENTON NAMED WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL COACH AT BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
July 10, 2003, Bloomfield, NJ – Stephen J. Fenton of Springfield, N.J., has been named women’s volleyball coach at Bloomfield College.
Prior to the appointment, Fenton was varsity volleyball coach at Nutley High School in Nutley, NJ, club volleyball coach at Atlantic Volleyball Club in Westfield, NJ, and assistant boys volleyball coach at Don Bosco Prep High School in Ramsey, NJ. He is currently an elementary physical education teacher for grades K through 6 for Saddle Brook Elementary Schools.

Fenton has served as club volleyball coach at D.I.G.S. Volleyball Club in New Milford, NJ, assistant boys volleyball coach at Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, NJ, assistant boys spring track coach at Plymouth Regional High School in Plymouth, NH, club coach at Lakes Region Junior Olympic Volleyball Club in Meredith, NH, and girls junior high school volleyball coach at Moultonborough Academy in Moultonborough, NH.
Fenton has earned a New Jersey State Certification in Health and Physical Education and Driver Education Certificate. He is also certified in CPR and First Aid.
He is a member of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance, New Jersey Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance, National Education Association, New Jersey Education Association and Saddle Brook Education Association.
Fenton earned a B.S. in Physical Education/Health Education K-12 with a minor in Health at Plymouth State College in Plymouth, NH.
MICHAEL GRANT NAMED MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY COACH AT BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
July 10, 2003, Bloomfield, NJ – Bloomfield College has named Michael Grant of Little Falls, NJ, its mens cross country coach.
Previously, Grant was the assistant cross country and track and field coach at Passaic Valley Regional High School in Little Falls. His responsibilities include administrative tasks, coaching hurdling events and assisting in training the distance runners.
Prior to that appointment, he was assistant to the scientific director of clinical research and the director of cardiovascular interventions at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute in Bethesda, Md. He also served as manuscript coordinator at the Journal of Clinical Investigation in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Grant earned a B.A. in Political Science from Columbia University, New York, in 1999.
JERRY WIMBERLY NAMED WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACH AT BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
July 10, 2003, Bloomfield, NJ – Jerry Wimberly of Paterson, NJ, has been named women’s basketball coach at Bloomfield College.
Wimberly has 14 years of experience of coaching women’s basketball on the college level. He was women’s basketball coach at Passaic County Community College in Paterson, NJ, for six years. Prior to this, he was an assistant women’s basketball coach at Kean University in Elizabeth, NJ, and William Paterson College in Wayne, NJ, for two and six years, respectively.
The Bloomfield College Women’s Basketball Team finished the 2002-03 season with a record of 22-7. The team was the top seed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) post-season tournament and was runner-up in the championship game.
While at Passaic County Community College, Wimberly is credited with developing the women’s basketball program from a losing team into a #1 nationally ranked team in the pre-season for two years. He developed five All-American first and second team members.
Wimberly received a B.S. in Management from Savanna State University, Savana, Ga.
Bloomfield College was elected to full membership in NCAA Division II in Fall 2002. The College offers intercollegiate athletic teams in men’s and women’s soccer and basketball, women’s softball and volleyball, and men’s baseball and cross country as part of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. Students may also participate in intramural sports programs.
