The public is cordially invited to attend “Studio Montclair’s Sixth Annual Open Art Exhibition,” on view May 30 through June 27 at the Westminster Art Gallery in Bloomfield College’s Westminster Arts Center, corner of Franklin and Fremont Streets in Bloomfield, New Jersey. An opening reception will be held on Friday, May 30th from 6 to 8 p.m.

The 21 pieces on view were selected from 172 entries from 32 New Jersey artists. Joseph Jacobs, Newark Museum’s curator of contemporary art, and David Rosenak, Director of Arts Education at Bloomfield College juried the show. The exhibit includes painting, sculpture, photography, digital and mixed media, and deals with a broad range of issues from purely representative images to depictions of 9/11.

Commenting on the work selected, Jacobs said, “It was gratifying to see such a high quality exhibition representing a broad range of artists and issues.” Speaking for Bloomfield College, Rosenak said, “We are very pleased to continue our collaborative relationship with the rich community of gifted local artists, and look forward to sharing this exciting exhibit with our students, faculty, neighbors and patrons.”

The exhibit consists of work from a group of 18 artists. Judging for the exhibit will take place on May 29th; prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd , and 3rd place, as well as two honorable mentions.
