Bloomfield College News & Events - BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL TEAM WINS 4TH STRAIGHT CACC TOURNAMENT
BLOOMFIELD (Nov. 8, 2003) -- A tradition of excellence continued
Saturday as the Bloomfield College Women’s Volleyball Team won its fourth
straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament
championship over Teikyo Post University of Connecticut, 3-0 (30-28, 30-24,
30-24).
Tournament MVP and CACC Player of the Year Cintia Spaniol, a 6’4 senior from Brazil, led the Deacons with 18 kills, 10 digs and 4 blocks in the championship game. Freshman Juruena Silvera of Maplewood, NJ, was named to the All-Tournament Team with 14 kills and 13 digs. Junior Krysea Sheen of Queens, NY, had 12 kills and 18 digs in the championship game.
In the semi-final round, Bloomfield defeated University of the Sciences (Philadelphia) 3-0 (30-16, 30-17, 30-23). In that game, Spaniol had 18 kills, 11 digs and 3 blocks, while Silvera had 16 kills, 11 digs and 3 aces. In other semi-final action, Teikyo Post defeated Dominican College 3-0.
Bloomfield finishes the season with a record of 20-14 overall and 19-2 in
the CACC.
