Building Evacuation – Westminster Hall and Van Fossen Theater

At approximately 11:20 a.m., the Bloomfield College Security Department discovered three suspicious packages on the outside of Westminster Hall and Van Fossen Theater. The Bloomfield Township Police and BC Security responded. Westminster Hall and Van Fossen Theater were evacuated. During the evacuation, the packages were identified. It was determined that building occupants could reenter at approximately 12:05 pm.

Campus Evacuation

At approximately 5:39 p.m., the Bloomfield Township Police and Bloomfield College Security responded to an anonymous telephone call to the Bloomfield College operator which posed a threat to both the Bloomfield College campus.

The academic buildings on campus were evacuated and after a check of the buildings by Police and K-9 units, the Police determined that the buildings were safe to reenter. All classes resumed around 7:15 p.m. An e-mail was sent out to the campus community. The incident is currently under investigation by the Bloomfield Police Department and the College’s Department of Public Safety and Security.

Campus Evacuation

At approximately 4:33 p.m., the Bloomfield Township Police and Bloomfield College Security responded to an anonymous telephone call to the Bloomfield College operator which posed a threat to both the Bloomfield College campus.

The campus was evacuated and after a check of the buildings by Police and K-9 units, the Police determined that the buildings were safe to reenter. All classes were cancelled and an emergency text message and e-mail was sent out to the campus community. The incident is currently under investigation by the Bloomfield Police Department and the College’s Department of Public Safety and Security.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., the Bloomfield Township Police and Bloomfield College Security responded to an anonymous telephone call to the New Jersey State Police which posed a threat to both the Bloomfield College campus and Bloomfield High School.

The campus was evacuated and after a check of the buildings by Police and K-9 units, the Police determined that the buildings were safe to reenter. All classes were cancelled and an emergency text message and e-mail was sent out to the campus community. The incident is currently under investigation by the Bloomfield Police Department and the College’s Department of Public Safety and Security.

Building Evacuation – Science Building

At approximately 6:16 p.m., the Bloomfield Township Police and Bloomfield College Security responded to an anonymous telephone call to the College’s Operator which posed a threat to the Science Building.

The building was evacuated and after a check of the building by Police and a K-9 unit, the Police determined that the building was safe to reenter. Classes in the Science Building were cancelled for that night and an emergency text message and e-mail were sent out to the campus community. The incident is currently under investigation by the Bloomfield Police Department and the College’s Department of Public Safety and Security.

Quad Area by Talbott and Knox Halls

At approximately 11:30 a.m., Bloomfield College Security received a report from a female student that an unknown male approached her, kissed her on the cheek, and then made lewd remarks. The man then immediately left the Quad area of the campus and proceeded towards Franklin Street.

This unknown male is described as:

  • AGE 34-40
  • HEIGHT 5’- 4”to 5’-6”
  • WEIGHT 135
  • HAIR COLOR UNKNOWN
  • COMPLEXION DARK

The individual did not have any facial hair or marks on his face. He was wearing a one-piece, army type, olive-colored jumpsuit and a handkerchief type head covering.
