The Department of Public Safety should be notified immediately of any threat to the safety of students, personnel or the security of buildings, college equipment and personal property. Students or employees should report criminal activities or emergencies to Security by dialing "0" for the college switchboard or extension 366 from any campus extension. From a pay phone or off campus telephone, dial 1-800-809-2222. To contact Bloomfield Township Police directly in an emergency, dial 911.
The following is intended to be used as an aid in identifying and properly responding to campus emergencies:
- Medical: illness and/or physical injury; drug or alcohol poisoning
- Hysteria or potential for hysteria: violent outbursts, fights, vandalism, threats; extreme grief due to medical emergency
- Rape: intruders; threats or attacks by intruders
- Suicidal or homicidal thoughts or act: signs of serious depression
- Housing: fire, gas, plumbing, building damage
In case of each emergency, call the operator at "0" or extension 366, explain the nature of the emergency and the operator or dispatcher will contact the appropriate person to respond. If you are doubtful as to the nature of the situation or whom to notify, call "0" or extension 366 without hesitation. Do not assume responsibility: get help.
