On the Third Floor of the College Center, there is a tranquil room with a recliner, TV/VCR, tape and CD player available for your use.

We have provided practical, hands-on strategies of different types that can help reduce your negative stress. In addition we have provided materials on several stress related topics that we feel are both informative and inspirational.

Please take a moment to read through the list of offerings.  If you see something you'd like to use in the space, follow the directions we've included here, relax, enjoy, and feel better.

Please send any feedback about the Relaxation Station, materials or procedures to Abby Kane or Harry Creary of the Wellness Center

A Guide to Borrowing Materials

All the material on the following list is available for use in the College Center.  We've created a Relaxation Station on the third floor, which provides comfort, quiet, a VCR, television and a CD and tape player.  In order to use the Relaxation Station and materials, you'll need to sign up at the counter on the first floor.  A staff member from the Office of Co-Curricular Programs (CCP) will assist you, but this guide will help you know the procedures to follow.

  1. Decide what you'd like to use. Contact Harry Creary (Ext. 302) or Abby Kane (Ext. 403) of the Personal Counseling Office if you need help selecting the right tape for your particular concern. The staff of CCP, located on the first floor of the College Center will assist you when you are ready to get the materials.
  2. Ask for the item by number. All you have to do is ask for the number as it is listed in the far right column of the list in this booklet. When the item is returned, it will be checked to see that it is in good condition*.
  3. Sign up for the hour you will need the Relaxation Station. Please be aware that only one person may use the space at a time, so demand may be great, at times, and for this reason, the Relaxation Station will be available for one hour at a time.
  4. Give your Bloomfield College I.D. Card to the person helping you. It will be returned when the material you borrowed and the key to the Relaxation Station is returned.  You are responsible to see that the Relaxation Station is left in good condition*.
    • If you enter the space and it's messy or something seems to be missing, return immediately to the Office of Co-Curricular Programs on the first floor and report it, so that you will not be charged for the damage.
    • No eating or drinking is allowed in the Relaxation Station.
    • Only one person may use the Relaxation Station at a time.
  5. Return the borrowed materials and the room key.   If you find you'll need something for longer than an hour, contact Harry Creary or Abby Kane for an overnight loan.
  6. If you would like to give feedback on the material you used, send your comments to Harry Creary and he'll post them on the Counseling web page.  You can E-mail us or leave written feedback.  Our offices are located opposite the Relaxation Station on the Third Floor of the College Center

*"Good Condition" is defined as the same condition it was in when you borrowed it, or in the case of the Relaxation Station, entered it
